This subject is available for our A-level students
Psychology is the study of the human mind and behaviour. The course we offer has been designed to provide a broad introduction to the scope and nature of psychology as a science, bringing the content up to date while still incorporating the more popular aspects of traditional Psychology. The emphasis is on applying knowledge and understanding rather than just acquiring knowledge, thereby developing students’ transferable skills of analysis, evaluation and critical thinking.

The course uses 5 main approaches to Psychology- cognitive, behavioural, evolutionary, psychodynamic and social psychology to give student a well rounded introduction to the subject, while allowing them to gain experience using different perspectives to explain behaviour.
The topics covered in Year 12 are memory, eyewitness testimony, human infant attachments, day care, stress and stress management, conformity, individual differences and research methods and design.
In Year 13 students will study in depth relationships, aggression, eating behaviours, schizophrenia and media in psychology.
