ICT

As a Specialist Mathematics and Computing College, the school is committed to providing a well resourced and forward - thinking Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) programme of education for our students. The ICT department is dedicated to imparting learning that is personalised to the needs of each individual student.

ICT is studied as a discrete subject in Years 7-9, as well as being used where appropriate in all other subjects. In Year 9 all pupils are given the opportunity to achieve a Level 2 qualification in ICT and this is continued into Year 10 as a compulsory subject. In Year 10 pupils can opt to take either a GCSE ICT or a Diploma in ICT. Post 16 there is the opportunity to study ICT at A level. At all levels our students gain outstanding results.

The ICT department aims to bring out the best in students through a wide range of extra-curricular activities. For example, girls in the lower school can attend Computer Club for Girls (CC4G) which is run at lunchtimes and after school. The school also has its own radio station. The school radio station “GSG Sound” enables girls to develop their journalistic and ICT skills, whilst having fun at the same time.

Students in all years have access to a variety of ICT-based resources to help personalise their learning. The school has its own Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which enables access to personalised learning resources at both home and school allowing girls both to work independently and continue their learning outside the classroom.

The ICT department is committed to developing and improving the ICT education of all our students, and is constantly innovating and progressing in order to equip our students with the knowledge and skills that they will need for life in the 21st Century.
