A message from Diane Connell, Chair of Governors:
I feel privileged to lead the dedicated team of Governors in this excellent School. We come from a variety of backgrounds with many skills, and work together for the benefit of the whole School Community.
Our prime areas of focus are the success of the students and their welfare. The pastoral care is outstanding, and everyone at WGSG is involved in making it a safe and enjoyable place to be.
Maintaining the good relationship between the Governing Body and the Head Teacher and her Senior Leadership Team is crucial to the effective administration of the School. The Governing Body has a duty to oversee the direction and policies of the School, to monitor its standards and be held to account for its conduct and performance. The Head Teacher has responsibility for the day-to-day management of the School.
The Governing Body conducts its business in committees: Curriculum, Human Resources, Buildings and Health & Safety, Finance and Communications. All Governors are members of one or two committees depending on their expertise and interests. Currently, four full Governing Body meetings are held each academic year to discuss recommendations and approve decisions.
If you are interested in becoming a Governor, I hope this information may help or encourage you. Training courses are provided by Kent County Council Children, Families & Education Advisory Service.
Further information can be obtained by contacting the Clerk to the Governors via the school office.
