Geography
The aim of the Geography department is to encourage all to students to appreciate the world around them. This is done through a strong emphasis at KS3 on developing:
- geographical skills
- an awareness of the issues that affect people across the world
- an understanding of and an empathy for different cultures
- an understanding of the physical processes that control our world and how we in turn modify these natural processes through our own actions.

This is achieved through a careful blend of activities which encourage greater knowledge and understanding plus the ability to think independently. Through Geography, students develop a greater understanding of the complex world we live in and the difficult decisions that have to be made on a daily basis in order to ensure sustainable development and a decent standard of living for all people on the planet.

Fieldwork is an integral part of Geography and all students take part in activities within the school grounds and locations in south-east England. Transferable skills are built up throughout KS3 and regular termly assessments enable students to track their outcome against their personal target.
