Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Wilmington Grammar School for Girls is pleased to offer The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to students in Year 10 and 11. There are currently 28 girls working towards their Bronze Award and a further 28 commencing in February. In the near future the school will be offering Silver and Gold expeditions, as well as the Bronze Award to all pupils in year 9.
The award is a programme of activities for you to do in your spare time. You simply have to choose one activity under each of these headings, and do it for a set length of time.
- Volunteering - Be a local hero. There are many possibilities, from helping older people to leading a dance group.
- Skill - Do something different. Perhaps you could be trapeze artist, play a musical instrument or learn sign language.
- Physical Recreation - Could you be the next Rebecca Hadlington or Kelly Homes? Virtually any individual or team sport / activity can count.
- Expedition – Go on an expedition with your friends and have the most memorable experience of your life.
How long will it take you?
Do not worry; it will not affect your studying or your social life – so go on, take the challenge!
Why should I bother?
- It is incredibly good fun and you get to do it with your friends. It’s something new that will challenge and improve your existing skills. It is immensely satisfying giving something back to your community and your confidence will soar.
