Astronomy club

The Astronomy Club meets fortnightly to bring space to life for our students.
During the winter months when daylight is shorter we take the girls out and look at the main features of the moon, planets in the Solar System and star constellations. Other events in the winter months include exploring robotics, like the Mars Rover Lander.

In spring and early summer we do more activities that require the better weather. Some examples are sending small rockets about 1/4km high into the sky. These take pictures and also give us information about the flight. From this we can work out acceleration and other factors.
Recently the Astronomy Club went to the National Space Centre, Leicester. Students had the opportunity to meet the 10th man to land on the moon, Charlie Duke, and to ask him questions about his amazing experiences.

The Astronomy Club meets on Wednesdays (week 1); for more information see Mr Pollard.
